Masterclass with Jennifer Frautschi, violin

The violinists performing for the masterclass are Henry Miller, age 13, and Sierra Green, age 14. Sierra is Concertmaster of Aspirante Youth Orchestra and is a member of Young People’s Chamber Orchestra. She is this year’s recipient of the Redwood Violin and will be performing on that instrument. A student of Tim Zieminski, she is in the 8th grade at Sebastopol Charter School. Sierra will perform the first movement of the Violin Concerto in A minor by J. S. Bach.
Henry is Concertmaster of the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, a member of Young People’s Chamber Orchestra and a contributor to Saturday Morning Jazz. A student of Aaron Westman, he is in 7th grade in the French School Extension at Slater Middle School. Henry will perform Ballade from Sonata for Solo Violin, Opus 27, No. 3, by Eugene Ysaye.
Henry recently appeared on the front page of the Press Democrat and was interviewed on KPIX, Channel 5.
Much of the advice given in a masterclass can be applied to any instrument. Therefore, all musicians are encouraged to observe the masterclasses, regardless of the instrument they play. Please spread the word and share this message with your students, colleagues and friends!
What is a masterclass?
A masterclass is an open lesson, during which a student performs a solo work and is coached by a master teacher. Attending audience (that’s you) listen and learn as observers. It is a fun and informative opportunity to see a top-flight musician and music educator share insights and techniques and to watch a student learn and grow before your eyes.
Please note: Parking is not included in the ticket. You will need to pay to park while at this event.
